I highly recommend attending Mardi Gras for many reasons; Zulu being one, of course, but there are so many beautiful things about Mardi Gras that simply can’t be understood from the outside.

The question of “type” of blackface is one I’m still pondering. One of the notable “styles” of Zulu facepaint is with one eye painted white, and known as the “Big Shot” style.
