Right, I acknowledge that. I just also take into consideration the pain associated with the most recent iteration, and the origin of adding the word “dread”, which is quite recent and also a source of enough pain that people are dropping the word and simply saying “locks”.

Rastafari brought the recent wave, and it was for a movement that I respect. They don’t “own” locks, but I choose to express that respect, and my respect for black people reclaiming hair, by not wearing locks.
