This was really helpful for me. I almost moved to Austin in 2015 when I was looking for a new “warm and liberal” home. I wound up in New Orleans instead, and while I was already glad I did, this really reinforced it.

I,too, have noticed that liberal =/= not racist. Of course, nobody is completely free of prejudice, but man is it more apparent in some places than others.
