Yes! I was just chatting with someone yesterday about how, in a society where monogamy is the norm, the path to cheating (secret nonmonogamy) is shorter than the path to an open relationship (openly going against social norms).

"Keep those social norms hidden" pits couples against their communities. It forces them to choose either dishonesty or social shunning...and the social shunning and training make any personal hesitation around nonmonogamy exponentially more difficult.
